In line with its corporate social responsibility strategy, and as part of its long-standing relationship with Jordan River Foundation (JRF), the Housing Bank, which has the largest and most widespread network in the Kingdom, announced that it has donated JD150,000 to the institution. The donated money will be used to support three JRF programs including production projects, child protection initiatives, and the assistance line (110) for families and children.
This donation by the Housing Bank to JRF is consistent with its corporate social responsibility vision, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, to support the foundation on creating sustainable development models that confront the challenges affecting the daily lives of Jordanians through programs and initiatives that focus on protecting children and empowering societies.
The bank's donation will be used to support the foundation's Al Karma Kitchen as well as its handicrafts initiatives, which benefit more than 300 women from around the country. During the current global coronavirus pandemic, the recipients of JRF's programs were left vulnerable to disruptions caused by the pandemic, losing work opportunities, which reflected negatively on their families of more than 1,500 members. Through the donation, JRF will be able to pay their salaries, positively improving their living conditions and those of their families.
The Child Protection Program, which will also be a recipient of funds from the donation, is wholly focused on building a safer Jordan for families and children, placing the issue of child care and protection at the forefront of national policies. Through the Child Protection Program's intervention, protection, and awareness services, the lives of more than 10,000 children and families have been improved.
JRF's free assistance line (110) empowers families in order to ensure their development and welfare through a team of highly-trained volunteers who offer psychological support, guidance, and advice. The support line receives more than 7,000 calls each year, giving children and their families access to counseling services in areas related to physical, psychological, social, and educational growth.
Jordan River Foundation, established in 1995 by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, works to establish sustainable developmental models and initiatives that empower communities and protect children.
