The Housing Bank, the largest and most widely spread bank in the Kingdom, announced that it has renewed its cooperation agreement with Tkiyet Um Ali, and will also support the institution throughout the month of Ramadan, allowing it to maintain its sustainable food support program in view of the exceptional circumstances Jordan is passing through as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Housing Bank, through its corporate social responsibility program, has long been keen on renewing the partnership agreement with Tkiyet Um Ali in the implementation of its social responsibility program and out of its belief in Tkiyet Um Ali's mission and compassionate objective to fight hunger in the Kingdom.
Commenting on this renewed partnership, Housing Bank CEO Ammar Al-Safadi praised Tkiyet Um Ali's staff and their exceptional efforts, particularly during the global coronavirus pandemic. He added that the noble humanitarian mission of Tkiyet Um Ali was the main impetus to renew and support the long-standing partnership in order to achieve a hunger-free Jordan.
According to Al-Safadi, and as part of its commitment to Jordan and its people, this year the Housing Bank will provide Tkiyet Um Ali with additional support during Ramadan. Due to the global pandemic, and as part of the government's efforts to combat the negative effects of coronavirus, the organization has expanded its scope of work and increased the numbers of the beneficiaries of its programs to include artisans, professionals, and daily workers negatively affected by the country-wide lockdown. Al-Safadi went on to stress the importance of collaborative efforts to support the objectives of Tkiyet Um Ali, particularly during these difficult times.
Director-General of Tkiyet Um Ali Samer Balqar said, (At Tkiyet Um Ali, we believe in the importance and benefits of public-private partnerships, something that is particularly true during these exceptional times we are currently witnessing. The support of the Housing Bank, which has been our partner in fighting hunger, has been invaluable and essential to our mission over the past several years.)
He went on to say, (It is important to note that the current circumstances surrounding coronavirus have greatly affected those living under the food poverty line. Hence, Tkiyet Um Ali's families, in addition to emergency humanitarian cases, have been hit the hardest, which prompts us to call on all those who are able to stand hand in hand with us to care for them by providing them with sustainable food support).
Each month, Tkiyet Um Ali delivers sustainable food support to 30,000 families living under the food poverty line throughout the Kingdom's governorates. Each year, Tkiyet Um Ali reaches 150,000 individuals, providing monthly food packages that include 24 food materials that fulfil their nutritional needs throughout the month. During the current global pandemic, Tkiyet Um Ali has been delivering emergency food packages to families that have been affected by the government's efforts to stem the virus.
